Short career outline Zagba Oyortey, a director of Arts Interlink, arts management consultants, is a writer, an arts administrator and a producer who holds an MA in Arts Policy and Management from the City University, London and BA in Politics with Philosophy from the University of Ghana, Legon. Zagba is also a critic and has published critiques of several art forms. Current areas of interest include music and dance for therapy, satellite technology and culture, new frameworks for critiquing African arts and strategies for developing the creative industries. In the last 15 years, he has worked for or been a consultant to arts and cultural organisations, local authorities and the Arts Council of England. Zagba also runs 'First Steps' an organisational development programme which has been used by arts organisations in London and adapted for groups in South Africa and Ghana. In 2001 Zagba produced 'Yaa Asantewaa, Warrior Queen' a sixty person cast musical which toured across the UK and Ghana. Zagba is the lead person for the African Arts Development Forum, a network of policy makers and producers for promoting collaboration, training arts administrators and devising strategies for using the arts for socio-economic development in Africa. In August 2004, Zagba joined the Observatory of Cultural Policies in Africa/UNESCO Task Force for producing the Cultural Indicators of Development: Towards an African Perspective as part of the Congress on Cultural Rights and Human Development held in Barcelona.
