Short career outline Li Yan, BA, MA, PhD, is a poet, journalist, lecturer, arts promoter and management consultant, who started his career as a performing arts officer at the China Performing Arts Agency, where he had organised a number of international touring projects. These include East African tour of Jiangxi Circus, the UK tour of the Beijing Opera Company, the Indian tour of the Chinese National Dance Ensemble and the US tour of the China Central Symphony Orchestra. In early 90s, he co-developed SiYu Chinese Times - the first Chinese national publication for the UK Chinese community. Then he worked for Direct Image Marketing & Communications where he had served a number of international clients, including The Nasdaq Stock Market, Virgin Atlantic Airways, Conde Nast Forward Publishing, John Brown Publishing, Deloitte & Touche, Royal SunAllience and Tate & Lyle. Li Yan has lectured on a series of arts-led subjects, including Digital Arts Management, City University, London; Modern Chinese Literature and Modern Chinese Drama at SOAS, University of London; Technical Translation, Institutional Translation and Editing Skills at The Language Centre, University of Westminster; Web Translation at Imperial College, University of London. He has published two collections of poetry: Roaming Under Heaven, and The Sign of Poetry.
