It has been hailed as a major triumph of modern theatre design and is situated in a formerly deprived area of Salford (near Manchester) that its presence has already started to revitalise. The theatre receives touring opera, dance and musical productions, and the horse-shoe-shaped multi-use theatre remains adaptable.
