On March 24th, 2002, over one and a half billion people watched the OSCARS ceremony on television. For the first time the awards were presented in the new Kodak Theatre. The project, designed by Theatre Projects Consultants with David Rockwell architects features state-of-the-art technology that optimises the venue for the presentation, recording and broadcast of world-class live entertainment - from concerts and Broadway shows to the performing arts and award ceremonies. The auditorium’s seating capacity is flexible and can range from 2,200 for live theatre to 3,500 for concerts and awards ceremonies.
