As a former President of the International Association of Theatre Critics, John Elsom is a founder member of the Mediterranean Theatre Institute. This is the organising body behind "Odyssée 2003", a Mediterranean Festival of the Performing Arts, which takes place on a boat that travels from port to port in many different countries around the Mediterranean. The remarkable success of Odyssée 2001 has led to calls for the event to take place every two years. John Elsom is a member of its organising committee. Stephen Phillips is its media consultant for English-speaking TV and radio channels.
